Pécs, the “borderless city”, the European Capital of Culture in 2010, is a city of art and history. But Pécs is not only great in culture, it is a remarkable place for youngsters due to Hungary’s oldest university. It is also a melting pot, culinary stop and outstanding for its natural treasure. Pécs is located in the south-west of Hungary, at the feet of the Mecsek mountain. Local people know Mecsek lures all orienteering competitors with its great, challenging, diverse terrains.
The history of the Mecsek Cup goes back to 1959, and next year, celebrating its sixtieth birthday, will be reborn. This special sport will be renamed Mecsek Open. We celebrate its birthday in an honorable place in the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter and in Szuadó which is a unique terrain, and always a challenge for orienteering competitors.
Enjoy and welcome the rebirth of Mecsek Open with "dancing on the back of the dolina devil”, in Mecsek. Follow our slogan: “discover, experience, enjoy”!
